Day 8 of 21-Day Sugar Fast
Soak in the sweetness of the Lord. Be delighted in Him. He’s delighted in you. Jesus is the source of our joy and gladness, and we are His joy and gladness. Let’s soak in this sweet relationship every day.
In July, I completed my first Revelation Wellness 21-Day Sugar Fast. Just like this time, the Lord led me to give up all processed sugar, all natural sugar like honey, all grains, and all fruit except two servings per day. Occasionally, I’d get to eat a small sweet potato.
By Day 3. I felt my body experiencing the sacrifice of no sugar. I felt the sugar low. Fatigue and hunger set in.
In the early hours of Day 4, around 2:30 a.m., my daughter called me asking for help. My son-in-law had become quite ill. We later discovered he had food poisoning.
So, I got out of bed, dressed, drove to the grocery store to buy a few food items that I would give my children when they were sick. I didn’t know what my daughter had in her home, so I bought it all. In addition, I brought all my cleaning products along because I knew my daughter would need help disinfecting and cleaning her house.
Sugar, Sugar – I Need Some
For two days I stayed at their home with them helping to clean, comfort, and care for all three of them. You see, they had just had a baby three months prior. And for two days, I held my granddaughter a lot as my daughter cleaned and cared for her husband too. Stopping only to nurse baby Ava.
During these two days, my body craved sugar. The afternoon of the second day, as I was holding and rocking my granddaughter, I could feel the Lord fill my sugar need. He was giving me sugar. He let me soak in the sweetness of baby Ava. She had become my sugar for those two days when my body hit its physical sugar low.
Since those two days, my special name for Ava is Sugar. She is my sugar. The Lord sweetened my life with a baby’s love.
Delight in the Lord
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 (NIV)
Today, as I read God’s Word, I got to soak in the sweetness of the Lord. I delighted in Him and the sweetness of Him. We can delight in Jesus just like I delighted in Ava, soaking in her sweetness.
Furthermore, today, Jesus reminded me just like Ava is my Sugar, I am His sugar and His sweetness. And He delights in me too.
He delights in us. He finds great joy and gladness in us, His children.
When we spend time together, we get to delight in another. We get to soak in the sweetness of the Lord. He is our joy and gladness. And He gets to delight in us too because we are His joy and gladness.
Soak in the Sweetness of the Lord with My Favorite Song
Since I was five-years old, “Sugar Sugar” by The Archies has been my all-time favorite song. I leave you today with this song. When you listen to it, think about Jesus singing this about you and to you.
First listen to this song as though Jesus is singing to you. Then listen to it again as if you are singing it back to Him. And if you’re male, change the words to fit who you are. Because guess what? Boys are sugar too. I know because I have a husband, a son, a son-in-law, and grandson all who are sweet. And Jesus delights in His sons just as much as He delights in His daughters.
So, go soak in the sweetness of the Lord. Then go pour a little sugar on someone else today too.
Pour a little sugar today on Jesus. And let Him pour a little a sugar on you. Let Jesus make your life sweet. Go soak in the sweetness of the Lord. He’s all the sugar we need!
“May you be pleased with every sweet thought I have about you, for you are the source of my joy and gladness.” Psalm 104:34 (TPT)
