Hi, I’m Michelle Barringer. I’m excited you’ve decided to visit my blog! I might as well tell you from the start, I am positive! I am joyful! I’m also passionate about Jesus. Everything revolves around my faith in Him.
My Dream = My Calling
For years I’ve dreamed of being a writer, an author, and a speaker. More importantly, I’ve known God has called me to write and speak. This blog has become a place for me to encourage you. It’s an electrifying feeling knowing I’m stepping into my dream, pursuing my calling, and making them become a reality.
Okay, time to celebrate education! I started college right out of high school, but didn’t finish. (The pitter-patter of six little feet postponed my educational goals.) Fast forward to 2007, while in my forties, I completed my bachelor’s degree in communication studies in 2009 from Northwestern College. Then I earned my master’s degree in communication from Bethel University in 2013. That’s right! I say, you’re never too old to get a college degree.
My Work History
While my work experience is varied, I’ve spent many years serving others. Whether in the hospitality industry, major food corporation, higher education, or being a stay-at-home mom, I’ve learned people matter. I believe being a joyful and grateful servant is the best way to show people they matter.
I’ve worked at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN, for the last nine years. Currently, I spend my days investing in our employees in multiple ways. Whether through one-on-one coaching or facilitating workshops, I engage employees in Gallup’s CliftonStrengths development. Another cool part of my job is welcoming new employees as they come on board our university. I get to facilitate fun orientations! Yes, new employee orientations can be fun. And if that’s not enough, I also celebrate the good work our employees do as I champion our employee recognition program. I’ve recently been introduced as the “Commissioner of Excitement!” I kind of like that title. 🙂 Besides all those fantastic responsibilities, I’m kind of the techie person for our human resources team helping with our web content and learning and maintaining software programs to keep us moving forward.
I love my family! They give me more joy, more pain, and more stuff to write about!
My hubby, Bob, and I have journeyed life together for over 30 years now. I’ve learned a lot about marriage and there are countless lessons I want to share.
I have the three most adorable children, Zack, Dani, and Rachel. They’re all grown up now, but they’re still adorable. They make me proud to be their mom. Plus, anything they do or say can and most likely will be written about.
My family keeps growing…literally. Zack married beautiful Courtney in July 2015 and last year they made me a grandma, which is one the coolest experiences of my life! I can’t imagine life without our sweet little James.
I’m the youngest of six children (five girls and one boy). We lived in a tiny town in South Dakota, If you round up the number, the population may have hit 500 people. I loved growing up in this tiny town. My mom, my hero, is 88 years old now. My dad passed away from MS about 18 years ago, but he’s always in my heart.
My Passion and Promise
I’m passionate about encouraging, inspiring, and guiding others. Life is a fabulous journey, but let’s face it, sometimes life knocks us down and painfully challenges us. We have to find a way to get back up, not give up, keep our grit, and move forward with determination and joy.
If faith, purpose, marriage, personal development, joy, family, fun, trials, triumphs, and womanly things are of interest to you, then I think my blog may be for you, but you’ll be the judge of that.
Through sharing stories and lessoned learned, my hope is you’ll be encouraged and find hope knowing someone else has walked the path you’re on and not just survived, but thrived. My promise to you is that I will lend my faith, encourage your heart, inspire some grit, and show you can choose joy no matter what.
My photos include personal snapshots, purchased stock photos from 123rf.com, Stocksnap.io, and Burst. Because I love living out Zig Ziglar’s motto, “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want,” I need to recognize Hannah Girl Photography for taking my professional headshots and my 30th wedding anniversary photos.
Thanks to Troy Olin for helping me develop my branding. Troy designed my logo and banner, and helped choose my favorite colors for my blog. He rocks!
